Tips For Green Holidays
The holidays and other events such as birthdays, weddings and showers can be extremely stressful on the environment! Decorations, wrapping paper, greeting cards, dinner parties, and food waste add to the landfill, use extreme amounts of energy, and deplete forests. We shouldn't forget about the environment when celebrating special occasions. Here are some tips we can all use to “green” our holidays.

DINNER PARTIES

Use your dishes! Avoid using paper or plastic plates, cups, and cutlery. If you must then try to use recyclable ones, and make sure there is a recycling bin available for everyone to use.
Use fabric or cloth napkins rather than paper napkins or towels.

Send leftovers with your guests when they leave, or take the leftovers to a soup kitchen. Be sure to compost any food waste.

Candlelight dinners can help reduce the amount of electricity you use. Use cleaner burning candles as mentioned above.

Use fresh or dried flowers or other vegetation from your garden to create centrepieces at your dinner table.
