14th Avenue Restoration – Phase 3
This tree maintenance – stewardship event is free to all participants. Please RSVP early for desired date, since space is limited. This is a first-come first-serve event. This year’s project titled ‘Little Rouge Woodland Restoration and Diversification Project – Phase 3’ will re-established woody native plants (trees & shrubs) in the open space between existing woodland fragments along the riparian corridor of the Little Rouge River. Students will learn the importance of properly plant- ing a tree and why they are important for our urban environment. Activities will include: applying mulch, tree guards and re- planting trees or shrubs if necessary.
This planting will provide practical outdoor learning in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. This is an opportunity for on-site educational experience including reforestation techniques & soil amendment techniques; as well as wetland, woodland and riparian studies.
